Bonjour, I am Hamza.
Product designer based in Paris, France.
Senior product designer, builder and problem solver with a deep appreciation for craft and an interest in product management. I have solid experience in SaaS product design for B2B early-stage startups. I'm passionate about creating a competitive edge through innovative and desirable products. I’m also into technology and how it can improve people's lives.
Currently, I'm experimenting with AI coding agents while building the future of manufacturing at Juno.
Selected works
Context: Juno is a French startup offering a SaaS platform to help manufacturers digitize their operations.
User need: The supervisor's main mission is to ensure efficient production across all machines in their workshop. To achieve this, they need to monitor in real-time whether all machines are operating under the expected conditions.
Current constraint: They either physically check each machine's status with the operator or use outdated and difficult-to-use production management tools, which costs them a lot of time and efficiency.
Design challenge & Strategy: Supervisors needed a lot of information displayed, and the challenge was to present it all without overwhelming the user. We took inspiration from map applications like Google Maps, which effectively display large amounts of data on a single screen while maintaining usability. I also developed a straightforward framework to prioritize information display: frequently used information is immediately visible; occasionally used information is hidden but easy to find; rarely used information is hidden but accessible.
Solution & Impact: I designed the production monitoring feature to help supervisors track machine status and production progress from their desks or on a screen in the work area. Supervisors can monitor current production advancement as a percentage, which is especially useful when switching products on the same machine. This feature allows for preparations like cleaning and parameter changes, reducing costly machine stops. It also alerts the supervisor if machine parameters like pressure or speed are non-compliant, reducing intervention time. Lastly, it notifies the supervisor of operator help requests, speeding up problem resolution reducing machine downtime, and ensuring efficient production.
Juno — Instruction book feature
Context: Juno is a French startup offering a SaaS platform to help manufacturers digitize their operations.
User need: In factories, operators need to pass instructions from their shift to the next to ensure efficient production, noting resolved and unresolved issues.
Current constraint: Instructions are given orally, which lacks traceability, can be forgotten, and causes cognitive overload. Additionally, when production issues occur, the supervisor doesn't know which operator to address because there's no traceability. This leaves problems unresolved.
Design challenge & Strategy: Operators aren't used to tech devices. The challenge was to make the feature clear and easy to use. Since it was on a tablet, the strategy was to mimic real-world machine buttons in shape and color to match the user's mental model, making the design familiar and maximizing adoption.
Solution & Impact: The instruction book feature allows operators to smoothly transfer shift instructions, ensuring efficient production. It ensures traceability and confirms the next operator has read and considered the instructions. This helps supervisors identify which operator to address if production issues arise.
iQspot — Design System
Context: iQspot is a French startup offering a comprehensive system for real-time monitoring of energy and fluid consumption in commercial buildings.
User need: In 2023, Florian Harmand, a product manager and designer at iQspot, faced a major design debt. It affected the user interface and led to a frustrating experience for users.
Solution & Impact: Working with Florian, I created a new design system from the ground up. This included typography, color schemes, a component library, brand assets, and interaction prototypes. I also helped rethink key parts of the product's interface and user experience.
With the AI coding agent Lovable, I've vibe-coded this simple task list for productivity enthusiasts to effortlessly get things done.
